Yamabiko Travel Times

Shinkansen Yamabiko

Here is a summary of the travel times for each section of the Yamabiko.
Although it is slower than the Hayabusa, it serves stations where the Hayabusa does not stop.

Major Yamabiko Routes Estimated Travel Time
Tokyo → Koriyama About 1 hour 20 minutes
Tokyo → Fukushima About 1 hour 40 minutes
Tokyo → Sendai About 2 hours
Tokyo → Morioka About 3 hours 10 minutes

The travel time from Tokyo to Sendai is about 1 hour and 32 minutes on the Hayabusa, and about 2 hours on the Yamabiko.

However, all seats on the Hayabusa are reserved. The Yamabiko offers non-reserved seats, reserved seats, Green Car seats, and Gran Class, allowing you to choose according to your needs. If you want to save on reserved seat fees, the Yamabiko is recommended.

Although it takes longer than flying, the Shinkansen has the advantage of frequent departures and the convenience of boarding quickly.
